The National Service Scheme (NSS) at Government Arts and Science College, Thiruthuraipoondi plays a vital role in fostering social responsibility, leadership, and community engagement among students. The college has two active NSS units, which regularly organize a wide range of extension activities, including tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, health awareness programmes, village adoption initiatives, Swachh Bharat campaigns, environmental conservation activities, road safety awareness, voter awareness programmes, disaster management training, and special camps in nearby villages. These initiatives help students develop a spirit of selfless service, discipline, teamwork, and civic responsibility while contributing meaningfully to society. The two NSS units are efficiently coordinated by Dr. P. Omprakash and Mr. N. Rajamakkiam, whose dedicated leadership and guidance have enabled the successful implementation of numerous community outreach programmes, thereby strengthening the college's commitment to the NSS motto, "Not Me, But You."
