About Our Library

The Library at Government Arts and Science College, Thiruthuraipoondi, plays a crucial role in advancing knowledge. Housed in a dedicated space within the college, it includes an information desk, a spacious reading hall, a reference room, a stack shelf, and a cabin for the librarian. The primary objective of the college library is to acquire process, organize, and facilitate access to diverse information resources, encompassing books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. With a collection exceeding 1000 books, including rare editions, it features significant works by classical and globally renowned authors, textbooks, journals, magazines, reference materials, and encyclopedias for both general and specific subjects like Tamil, English literature, Commerce, Management, Social Work and Mathematics. A distinct Advisory Committee for the Library, comprising the Principal and the Librarian, assumes responsibility for decisions related to enhancing infrastructure and library services.

General Library Rules

• The library welcomes all students and staff of the college.
• Operating on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the library remains closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and authorized holidays.
• Personal belongings are not permitted inside the library.
• Readers must refrain from engaging in conversations or behaviors that may disrupt others. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.
• Writing on, damaging, or marking library books is strictly prohibited. .
